Well, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year once again to all our family, friends, and blog readers! We barely got a few Christmas cards in the mail this year but had to forego our annual letter to save time. So if you are lucky (or more likely bored) enough to stumble across our blog, here's a summary of our year in review.
Our lives all changed for the better in early spring when on March 26 we welcomed our sixth Little Blessing--our sixth little BOY--Mark Timothy Hagerott. Unlike his older brother Zachary, Mark decided he would spend very minimal time in the hospital, and was born just two hours after we arrived! And with a very healthy heart (thank you, God) and all other systems in check, we were able to leave and bring him home the very next day! His brothers quickly fell in love with their little bundle of joy and fought over whose turn it was to hold their baby... until the crying started. "Please God, let him be healthy," we prayed time and time again as we waited for Mark to come. He answered our prayers. "Please God, let him not be colicky," we prayed, knowing full well that a newborn screamer and five older rambunctious boys would surely test our wits. God laughed at that prayer, and tested our wits He did. Thankfully, the fussiness eventually gave way to a happier baby with enchanting blue eyes and a look all his own--a mini version of his Daddy--and an uncanny ability to soften up even the toughest big brother... every time. Mark is crawling and slobbering, trying to eat off the floor, sampling off our plates, and still not too interested in sleeping well at night. But he loves his family, and he loves his doggie ("Hersh!" is his only word,) and we certainly can't get enough of our sweet blue-eyed baby boy.
Big brother Zachary did Mom and Dad a favor and found his way out of diapers in early January. Then suddenly, Zachy transformed into a "big kid" and started walking and talking like the rest of the crew. He spent the warmer months riding his bike and his Big Wheel, swimming, exploring the neighborhood, and hanging with the big kids. This fall, after months of eager anticipation, Zachary started pre-school. While the first day was full of emotion and maybe a tear or two of joy for Mom and Dad, Zachy moved right into the classroom like he owned the place and not so much as looked back to say good-bye.
