Time Won't Stand Still
Time won't stand still when you have special projects to complete. Life goes on. The kids still need to be fed and loved, the laundry must still get done, and the lawn must still be mowed. These kind of things can't be put on "hold" so you can take on bigger projects... like moving.
Years ago, I told Steve that if we were ever to move to a new home, there was no way it could be within a year of having a baby. The year before, I'm so sick and exhausted being pregnant that I'm good for nothing. The year after, you're caring for a baby around the clock. For the past eleven years, we have always been "within a year" of having a baby.
But finally, we were able to pull it off! We have been in our new house for nearly two months now, and we love the extra space! Granted, we will be unpacking and trying to make our new house a home for many months, probably years. But we are here, even though time didn't stand still for us to pull it off.
We miss our old home, our proximity to school and church, and our wonderful neighbors. But we love the tranquility of our new neighborhood, the extra room to accommodate our growing family, and our new neighbor friends! Here's a look back on the past couple of months:
We miss our old home, our proximity to school and church, and our wonderful neighbors. But we love the tranquility of our new neighborhood, the extra room to accommodate our growing family, and our new neighbor friends! Here's a look back on the past couple of months:
We had to take time out of packing to enjoy the winter snow!
The boys relished their last chance to sunbath on our old deck. February? No problem! (Notice the snow.)
You lose teeth, even in the midst of a move!
I couldn't quite convince my little sister to postpone her wedding until we were settled in our new place... |
Packing slowed down a bit when Sammy suffered two staph infections, and later a bad case of hives...
The morning we said "good-bye"
Sammy and Zachary check out our new neighborhood from the front porch.
Joseph re-paints his new bedroom. Pink WILL NOT work!!!
Alex broke in our new tub.
Did you know we have a waterslide?
We celebrated two birthdays, even in the midst of our boxes!
Isn't a little chocolate good for your heart?
David can make dinosaurs out of anything--even Easter eggs!
The "best" Easter morning pose we could muster.
Easter evening, and we're still into that chocolate.
Our kitchen is perfect for making Easter cookies!
Dinosaur showdown with a new neighbor friend!
Egg dyeing with, um, SEVEN?! boys. We wish you all a very happy and holy Easter season!
I LOVE this post! It made me laugh and cry...so much in the past two months! God bless you and your new home, baby! Love, Mama
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI ran across your blog, so I decided to take a peek at how you guys are doing in your new home. Looks like you guys are really enjoying yourselves. We love it here. I feel so blessed everyday that we were able to make this move and that our home went to a big family that can enjoy it for many years to come. There are a few things that I've missed including having a big covered deck. Especially during this awful heatwave. We are getting bids to cover ours this fall. We have made a few minor changes around here, but this house is still filled with lots of love as it was when you were here. Hope you all are doing well. Stay cool.
God Bless,
Mandi :)
