Happy Birthday, Alex!
Our dear Alexander,
Today you are TEN YEARS OLD! Ten wonderful years you have given us to be your parents. I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say we were a little surprised God sent you so soon after we were married! We were downright scared, to say the least! But that fear soon grew into excitement--the excitement of bringing a new child into the world and becoming our own little family.
You surprised us again when you arrived a full month ahead of schedule, and though you were very small at only five pounds, you had a good set of lungs and doctors said you were perfectly healthy!
Then you surprised us six weeks later when you became ill and required emergency surgery to save your life.
You recovered well and thrived, and soon welcomed little brothers!
You always worked very hard in school and impressed us with your grades and study habits. And when you had room for improvement, you always stepped up to the challenge! Reminds me of the time your preschool teacher asked you to practice using scissors...
You grew up so fast!
You have the gift of gab, and would be happy talking to a wall, if only it would stand still long enough to hear you out. And you are very opinionated... not afraid to share your beliefs or voice your point of view! Still, you will try anything once, from bungee jumping to green eggs and ham!
We look forward to the next ten years with you! We love you for all that you are, and for all you will grow to be!

Happy 10th Birthday, Alex!!!

TOO sweet!!! I don't think I ever heard the story about his surgery right after he was born! I guess we'll have to talk about that when we get together for our girl's night!!!
