All Saints Day
Today is the Feast of All Saints--that special day when we remember and honor all holy men and women who are now in heaven. I can't help but reflect in particular on the precious little babies and other children who lost their battle this past year with congenital heart disease. These are children whose parents we knew, whose stories we followed, whose hearts are now with Jesus. We wanted them to stay with us, but God needed them with Him. We prayed for them in their battle; now they pray for us. They are in paradise, and their hearts are whole!
For whatever reason, God chose to let Zachary stay. Yet I think back to the uncertainty we felt a year ago as our departure for Michigan approached. It seemed appropriate today for me to look back on some of our first posts to Zachary's Care Page. All the excitement for the arrival of our fifth blessing, all the preparation for our time away, all the fear, all the sadness in leaving our oldest blessings back home...
But today we are together, we are seven, and we are looking forward to spending the upcoming holidays at home! We are also quite happy to report that the five little piggies are feeling much better. Sammy, too, developed a severe ear infection mid-week, and unlike Zachy, he cried "I want DADDY" all night long! Nothing, thank goodness, that some bubble-gum antibiotics couldn't fix! So yesterday, according to annual tradition, we carved our pumpkins, donned our holiday garb, and set about on a frightening hunt for sugar! The weather was perfect and the night was magical.
David, the Terrible T-Rex
Joseph, the Fearful Dracula
Sammy, the Spooky Skeleton
Zachy, our Precious Pumpkin
My witch suit, complete with a wart on the nose!
Can't wait to start trick-or-treating!
All tuckered out...
Today we are recovering from a severe glucose overdose and an extra hour of no sleep (Zachy woke up, as usual, at 6 am, which was not 6, but 5 am!) We are trying to catch up on a few things at home, and preparing for our next road trip later this week to Dallas and Oklahoma. And, of course, we are planning towards a very special FIRST BIRTHDAY just one month away!
From our family to yours, we wish you a very happy and holy All Saints Day!
